Trudy Wang has 17 years of experience in financial journalism, corporate communications, and crisis and issues management, combined with strong knowledge and insights about China’s marketplace and business world. She has extensive and solid experience serving healthcare and financial clients. She has a special focus on developing TrailRunner’s strategic sectors in the China market which includes pharmaceutical/healthcare/biotech, technology and new economy, IPOs and capital markets.

Prior to joining TrailRunner, Trudy led her own strategic communications firm, and she was previously a senior consultant at Ogilvy Public Relations, Shanghai. In her earlier career, she also worked for seven years as an investigative reporter at China’s most influential economics news journal, Caijing Magazine. Her reporting covered a broad spectrum of fields and topics including trade, investment, mergers and acquisitions, antitrust issues, intellectual property rights, and financial fraud. She is an often-published public columnist and guest speaker on China’s economy and media landscape for business delegations coming to China from all over the globe.

Trudy holds a Master’s degree in East Asian Area Studies from the University of Southern California, and she also studied public relations at Boston University. In December 2015, she completed the Executive Program for Social Impact and Strategy at the University of Pennsylvania. Trudy also holds an International Certificate in Investor Relations (ICIR) granted by the UK Investor Relations Society. A Shanghai native, she speaks Mandarin as well as fluent English and Japanese.

Anna is a keen China observer with an entrepreneurial approach to business. Passionate about helping companies thrive in China, she specializes in market entry strategy, investment strategy, market research, business deal structuring and negotiation.

As a cross-cultural communicator, part of the Chinese corporate law firm A&Z, she helps companies to identify crucial aspects of building a successful international business and the legal framework to support it. Anna has worked with numerous European and American clients, assisting multinationals, international SMEs, and groups to enter and expand in the Chinese market, and to navigate complex legal issues locally.

With an experience of 7 years in China, prior to working at A&Z, Anna was employed at one of the biggest Chinese corporate law firms. Her professional experience also includes companies in the UK and in France. A dynamic public speaker, Anna enjoys topics related to legal and business developments in China. Passionate about professional development and equal opportunities, Anna is on the Board of Directors of the non-profit IPWS (International Professional Women’s Society), which has a history of over 29 years in China.

An Oxford University graduate with a multinational background, she continuously invests time into her education, recently completing the Certification Course in Modern Management presented by FHNW Swiss-Asian MBA Programme. Anna is a native-level speaker of four languages, English, French, Latvian and Russian, and is continuously improving her Mandarin.

Michael Hickman is a Principal in Control Risks’ Crisis and Security Consulting practices for the Greater China and North Asia region. He is responsible for projects involving complex problem solving, risk management, compliance and ethics, and training. A member of the bar in New York, and fluent in Mandarin, Michael has been working in China and throughout Asia since the 1980s.

His international law practice has covered compliance, including anti-bribery and anti-corruption matters and regulatory investigations, complex cross-border M&A transactions, private equity investments, foreign direct investment and international capital markets transactions, all involving full use of bilingual and bicultural skills.

Before joining Control Risks, Michael worked with international law firms including Cleary Gottlieb, Simmons & Simmons, Fried Frank and Haiwen, a leading mainland China-based corporate law firm. Michael has authored numerous articles on mergers and acquisitions and securities regulations in mainland China appearing in the International Financial Law Review, Asia Law & Practice, China Law & Practice and others. He was co-author of the China Chapter, The Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Review (ed. Mark Mendelsohn), Law Business Research, 2013, and co-author of the China Chapter, Corporate Governance, Global Legal Group (London), 2014 and 2015.

Michael received his Juris Doctor degree in 1985 from the University of Washington and a bachelor’s degree in Chinese language and literature in 1978, also from the University of Washington.
