Cultural Matches & Mismatches between Headquarters & China Branches
The key to a multinational company’s success in China is the ability to ‘translate’ global strategy into local performance: something much easier said than done. In today’s complex and volatile business environment, both foreign and Chinese managers get stuck between two unproductive choices. One is sounding ‘too foreign’ for Chinese clients, suppliers and colleagues; the other is sounding ‘too Chinese’ for senior management at headquarters. The resulting gap in communication, decision-making and attitude affects everyone on both sides, whether they are in touch directly or indirectly.
On the afternoon of Tuesday, 27 July, BritCham Shanghai and its Human Resources Committee invite the 19-year China resident intercultural leadership consultant Gabor Holch to present the worst and best practices and discover and solve China-HQ misalignments across diverse guiding values, industries and managerial levels.
We are also honoured to invite three senior business leaders to join the panel discussion. They are going to discuss their experiences in leading Chinese operations through past years.
