BritCham Shanghai invites you to attend the two-day ‘Managing Global Transition Challenges with the ESG Tool ’ course, delivered by Prof. Ismail Ertürk – Senior Lecturer in Banking and Finance at The Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS) on 11-12 Jan. in Shanghai.

Prof Ismail specialises in socially responsible business, green finance, ESG, and stakeholder capitalism. He has published extensively on corporate governance and financialisaton and has co-authored books on the 2007 banking crisis. Ismail has advised global companies and government institutions and directed senior banking programmes for leading banks worldwide.

The course equips students with analytical tools to evaluate the global business environment shaped by businesses’ societal and environmental responsibilities. It adopts a cutting-edge cultural political economy perspective to address unique complexities and challenges in management.

By the end of the course, you will be equipped to make informed strategic decisions in navigating complex business environments driven by sustainability and ESG considerations.

Objectives

To give you the knowledge to:

  • Thoroughly understand the contemporary and historical frame of global business and economy where social responsibility and business ethics have become strategic management themes
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the cultural political economy and financialisation perspectives in analysing global business practices and their relevance for the UN Sustainable Development Goals
  • Appreciate the complexity of managing in contemporary global environment where societal and ethical concerns compete with shareholder value maximisation principle

To give you the intellectual skills to:

  • Develop skills required to deconstruct narratives of business models and management practices and consider the wider implications of those narratives for socially responsible business
  • Consider data drawn from the wider context in order to develop skills for improved problem analysis of societal and ethical issues in contemporary business and management
  • Develop a critical awareness of the strengths and limitations of different theoretical and practical approaches to leading and managing in a global context that is defined by the UN Sustainable Development Goals
  • Demonstrate an awareness of the strengths and weaknesses of different sources of knowledge and data used to address management problems
