[SDG Series] Reducing Waste to Achieve Circular Economy

Lixia Zheng, as Project Coordinator for China Office, SCP Policy Advocacy and Capacity Development Consultant, is working for SWITCH-Asia Regional Policy Advocacy Component funded by European Union (EU), implemented by UNEP Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, and based in UNEP China Office since July 2018. She supports sustainable consumption and production related policy advocacy coordinating and engaging the governments and stakeholders in China according to the work plan of RPAC. The overall objective of RPAC is to strengthen the dialogue at regional, sub-regional and national policies on Sustainable Consumption and Production in selected countries from the Asia region, thereby contributing to green growth and reduction of poverty in Asian countries. She is an Engineer in the field of Environment Protection with a Master Degree. From March 2005 to June 2018, she worked in Tsinghua University/Basel Convention Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific (BCRC China) as the program officer and the negotiation expert of Basel Convention. As project technical manager, she has completed more than 30 projects in the field of Basel Convention, circular economy, e-waste management and policy, waste import/export management and policy research.

Mr. Yisong Guan is the Head of Beijing Office of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. He has rich experience in providing consultation to governments and enterprises for green transition. In his over ten years career on climate change, he founded Easy Carbon, a consultancy firm, to support companies to achieve low carbon transition under Clean Development Mechanism of UNFCCC. The company helped clients secure over 5 billion RMB carbon emission reduction financing through carbon market with successfully registered 178 CDM projects in the UNFCCC, ranking No. 1 in China. He was the Chief Operation Officer of the United Nations Environment Programme – International Ecosystem Management Partnership (UNEP-IEMP), responsible for organization management and project execution to protect biodiversity with promoting international cooperation on ecosystem management. He is leading the China Programme of the Foundation to accelerate the circular economy transition of China through high-level cooperation, industry transition and city demonstrations to unlock the country’s potentials and achieve the social and environmental benefits from the circular economy.

Alexandre Audouard is currently Vice President of Standard Polymers Asia-Pacific at INEOS Styrolution, the global manufacturer of styrenics such as styrene monomer, polystyrene, ABS, and speciality styrenics resins. Prior to this role, Alexandre held various positions within INEOS in Europe and in Asia, and worked at Rohm & Haas and DOW Chemical. Alexandre is Swiss and French, and holds a Master degree in Mechanical Engineering from ECAM Lyon (France) and a Master in Advanced Studies in Energy from EPFL (Switzerland).

Anders Lennartsson is the Country Sustainability Director of IKEA China. His previous experiences include working as Country Sustainability Manager in IKEA Retail Norway and Global Sustainability Manager in IKEA Food Services. Anders’ responsibility here in China is to lead and enable the implementation of the IKEA sustainability strategy, People and Planet Positive, at IKEA retail including its logistic units.

Motivated by the belief that sustainability goals and actions should be integrated into the business, Anders Lennartsson has worked closely together with business owners to support and push the sustainability agenda for various functions, ranging from commercial, real estate, and logistics.

Anders has worked with his company with three focus areas: healthy and sustainable living, circular and climate, and fair & inclusive. Anders also makes sure that apart from delivering to the global goals in these areas, he also ensures that the company delivers to the expectations of customers, government, and other stakeholders in China.

Roger Zeng has been managing sales and marketing for Patagonia in mainland China since 2006. He tries mixing up work with his love for snowboarding, trail running, sailing and triathlon. A graduate of the University of Toronto Faculty of Engineering, Roger spent his previous life in the IT industry in Toronto and the Silicon Valley before returning to hometown of Beijing in 2004.

Rosie has been in Shanghai for eight years, working for Control Risks and helping companies navigate complex risk matters in challenging jurisdictions. Rosie leads the largest mainland China practice dedicated to understanding reputations risk. Prior to coming to Shanghai she had over 12 years’ experience in Russia and the Former Soviet Union.
