The Importance of Evidence Generation in Delivering High-Quality Healthcare

Dr. ZHENG Chen is a Family Medicine Physician at Jiahui Health. He graduated from the School of Medicine at Shanghai Jiaotong University in 2013 and pursued his postgraduate training at multiple teaching hospitals and community clinics in the US, including Kuakini Medical Center in Hawaii, etc. He passed USMLE and received his ECFMG certification. After returning to China, and before joining Jiahui, Dr. Zheng worked at two international clinics as a Family Medicine Physician where he was well regarded among his patients.

Dr. Zheng provides comprehensive and continuous healthcare for individuals and families of all ages for a range of diseases, including acute and chronic diseases in adults and children, travel healthcare, sexually transmitted diseases, as well as woman and child care.

Being a doctor who is passionate about medical education, Dr. Zheng has held multiple training events for young doctors in Shanghai. He is a teacher at his medical school and an instructor for the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) course. He likes to equip his patients with basic medical knowledge so that they are able to make educated healthcare decisions for themselves and their families.

Allan Chen is currently the Asso. Director, Medical Affairs team lead in Haleon (China) where he led the science evidence generation on the OTC & dietary supplements product. During his more than 15 years Medical Affairs works in the healthcare industry, Allan has delivered OTC drug formulation science interpretation for innovation products, as well as medical evidence generation and real-world study implementation for marketed OTC and dietary supplement products. Allan Chen received his Master of Medical Science in Medical Nutrition from Shanghai JiaoTong University and Bachelor of Medicine in Basic Medicine from Zhejiang University. He began his professional career at Medical Affairs department of Pfizer Consumer Healthcare, later move to Medical Education function in Eli Lilly. Recently Allan Chen lead a Medical Affairs sub-team of nutrition category in Haleon (China) start from 2017. He summarized the ‘Fighting micronutrient deficiencies’ medical evidence works from Haleon, which was published in <Nature> portfolio in 2024(https://www.nature.com/articles/d42473-024-00163-7).

Max Kirkby spent 35 years in the Pharma industry. An experienced drug development leader, leading both global cross-function drug development teams, development functions and R&D organisations.

During his development career Max brought to market a number of new medicines across multiple therapy areas. Within oncology he has led teams through approvals with US FDA, EMA, PMDA and NMPA including assets with companion diagnostic registration requirements.

Max has lived and worked in UK, USA, Sweden and China and managed development teams globally and R&D organisations in China and Japan. He is an engaging leader who puts a strong emphasis on high-performing teams, individual development, cross-functional working and good governance to drive successful drug development.

Max has more than 14 years experience living and working in China in both global and local leadership roles and is passionate about the importance of including China and other Asian countries like Japan and S Korea in global development from an early stage. This enables both the diversity of expertise from these important countries to be hanced within the global development strategy as well as ensure their patients can access new treatment options at the same time as those in the US and Europe.
