On the afternoon of 16 August 2022, People’s Government of Jing’an District hosted its 2022 Jing’an District Foreign Investment Promotion Conference.
The attendees of the conference included officials from Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce and municipal-level departments of Jing’an District, as well as the representatives of foreign chambers of commerce in Shanghai and key foreign investment enterprises in Jing’an District.
The Conference marked the launch of the “Foreign Investment Promotion Partner Programme (外资促进合作伙伴计划)“, an inaugural initiative aiming to strengthen the cooperation between Jing’an District, foreign chambers of commerce and major economy promotion organisations, and to attract multinational companies, financial and other professional service providers.
As one of the first batch programme partners, BritCham Shanghai was delighted to attend the Conference and received the “The Partner Agency of Shanghai Jing’an Foreign Investment Promotion Centre (静安区外国投资促进合作伙伴机构)” certificate from Jing’an District.
“At a time when Shanghai enterprises are still picking themselves up from the lockdowns earlier in the year, it was fantastic to be a part of an event recognising some of the great success that British investment has had and continues to have in an economically important and vibrant area of the city. One crucial proponent of locally-based foreign businesses who the Chamber has dialogue with, Madame Zhu from SOFCOM, spoke eloquently alongside other government and private sector counterparts. There was a sense of an enthusiastic drive to move forward in Jing An and it speaks of the city more widely. Much to be positive about!” said Alex Roberts, the Advocacy Lead and Executive Committee Member of BritCham Shanghai.
