It was a full house at the Sukhothai Shanghai, as 70 BritCham Shanghai members, brands, and retailers joined the China New-Retail Summit to hear from China retail experts, British luxury brands, and the latest Shopper Insights report by OUTFORM APAC.
The summit was opened by BritCham Shanghai Executive Director, Stuart Dunn, and Daisy Hu, who is vice chair of the Chamber’s Hospitality committee, and works for Jardine Matheson.
Patrice Nordey, CEO & Founder of Trajectry – who advises many of the world’s largest brand groups, shared “The Store is now the Story – Exploring the new frontiers of luxury retail”, followed by WPP Media’s Head of Strategy Lauren Cadman, shared “New retail -The era of immersion” – explaining how dwell time, and revenue can be grown with immersive retail strategies in China.
OUTFORM’s head of Strategy & Commercial Harriet Sheffer then gave an exclusive first look at the 2025 Chinese Shopper Insights Report – a qualitive study on shopper preferences, and trends across China’s luxury, beauty, sports, home, and travel retail sectors.
This was followed by The Retail Panel, where Harriet asked Dr. Bernd Pichler (Aston Martin), Yang Liu (Mulberry), and luxury jewelry brand Izzy Ye (Garrard) how they use omnichannel strategy and “money can’t buy” brand experiences to convert China’s VICs.
The summit finished up with Sukhothai’s Zuk bar, where industry professionals connected over snacks and drinks.
