On 11 November 2025, BritCham Shanghai successfully hosted the “UK-China Digital Medical Industry Forum” at the Hangzhou International Talents Entrepreneurship & Innovation Park (HITEIP), Gongshu District, Hangzhou. This event brought together professionals from fields such as AI technology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, medical services and investment. Participants engaged in in-depth exchanges on the application of AI in the healthcare industry, explored avenues for collaboration, examined shared industry challenges, and looked ahead to future trends in digital healthcare.

The event opened with a guided tour of HITEIP, organised with the support of the Gongshu District team. Participants learned about the Park’s ecosystem for overseas talents and enterprises, including its policies, resources and innovation support system, gaining an intuitive understanding of HITEIP’s role in nurturing international talent and technological development.

The event commenced with the opening remarks by Stuart Dunn, Executive Director of BritCham Shanghai. Stuart highlighted the strategic significance of integrating AI technology with the medical industry against the backdrop of deepening UK-China economic and trade cooperation, and expected in-depth exchanges and closer connection among the participants.
Subsequently, Yaowu Zhang, Director of Zhejiang S&T Cooperation Centre and Director of China-Europe Talent Exchange & Innovation Cooperation Centre (CEIC), delivered a welcome speech. He introduced the platform advantages of CEIC in promoting Sino-European talent exchanges and technological innovation, outlined the relevant policy support directions and key priorities of the Zhejiang Provincial Action Plan for Accelerating the High-Quality Development of “AI + Healthcare” (2025-2027).
In the case-sharing session, Bonnie Hua, Vice President Marketing Greater China from London & Partners gave a keynote speech on “AI + Life Science Industry in London”. She introduced the integrated industry-academia-research-application support provided by MedCity in London for AI medical enterprises, and also shared cases of the integration of AI with the life sciences industry. Finally, she also welcomed the participants to attend the Annual Life Science Week in London.

This UK-China Digital Medical Industry Forum served not only as a platform for technology and resources matching, but also as an opportunity to build industry consensus across cultures and fields. Through case sharing and in-depth dialogues, participants gained a clearer understanding of the technical bottlenecks facing AI in healthcare, while jointly identifying potential pathways for overcoming these challenges through collaboration—particularly regarding the practical application of AI in biomedicine and medical devices, and the commercialisation of related projects. The discussions offered fresh insights that will support the high-quality development of the digital healthcare industry.
