Sentiment Survey 2025: The Collective Voice of British Business

3 Nov 2025

BritCham’s British Business Sentiment Survey 2025–26 is now open!

As an important part of our advocacy on behalf of members, BritCham Shanghai invites you to participate in the national annual ‘British Business in China: Sentiment Survey for 2025-26’. Through the survey, the Chamber will capture a holistic and national perspective on sentiment from British business in China, which will serve as a vital benchmark for our Member companies. The survey closes on Friday 14 November.

Questions in the survey include:

  • Outlook: What is your organisation’s outlook for the coming year?
  • The state of the market: Has doing business in the Chinese mainland become easier or more difficult over the past year?
  • Future investment: What are your organisation’s current investment plans for China over the coming year, and the motivations behind those plans?
  • Tariffs and supply chains: How are global trade tensions and tariff measures affecting British businesses in China, and how are companies adapting supply chains in response?
  • UK-China bilateral relations: How do British businesses view the prospects for UKChina relations, particularly in light of renewed engagement by the UK government?

About the Survey

The survey serves as an important platform to shed light on the opportunities and challenges facing the collective British business community across China. The information you provide will directly inform our key messaging and communications with both the British and Chinese governments over the coming year, as we work to foster a more favourable business environment for our members.

The Sentiment Survey results will be published in a report made available to members in December 2025. The survey is open to all British businesses operating in China. Members of the British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai will be invited to attend launch activities and will have opportunities for government engagement.

All responses will remain anonymous in the final report. Respondents from C-suite leadership, or heads of government affairs, legal, or similar departments, are best placed to complete this survey.
