Understanding the Personal Information Protection Law’s impact on your business and HR function

Event details

China’s first dedicated personal information protection law has been released. Businesses have a little more than 2 months to prepare for rules that introduce wide-ranging changes to the way they collect, process, use and transfer personal information. Understanding the law will be particularly important for HR functions, with new grounds for processing staff information related to human resources, strict cross-border data transfer requirements when using global systems and high penalties when non-compliance occurs.

The British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai and its Legal & Compliance and HR Committees invite the experts from Dentons, PwC and The Weir Group to share the insights on the Personal Information Protection Law, and to discuss the potential opportunities and challenges it could bring to UK and other international businesses, and in particular HR functions.

We are delighted to invite members and friends to the webinar on Monday, 6 September, 10:30–11:30am, Beijing time.

Key takeaways

  • To understand the key aspects of new data protection framework for businesses operating in and with China.
  • To learn the opportunities and challenges that the new law presents for HR functions.
  • To assist in setting a roadmap to compliance before the PIPL launches.
