Creating better organisational practices for female employees to enhance morale, innovation, and efficiency

Event details

This session is part of BritCham Shanghai’s SDG event series and focuses on SDG 5: Gender Equality.

Did you know?

  • Nearly 60% of women around the world work in the informal economy, earning less, saving less, and are at greater risk of falling into poverty.
  • Women earn 23% less than men globally. For example in the UK, women essentially working ‘for free’ from 18th November 2021 till end of the year due to pay gap.
  • Women occupy only 24% of parliamentary seats worldwide.
  • 1 in 3 have experienced physical or sexual violence and 200 million girls and women have suffered genital mutilation.

At this event, BritCham Shanghai is delighted to invite various extraordinary speakers to discuss how gender gap can affect organisational structures, processes, and practices. Human Resources departments are at the very centre of the organisation and are responsible for HR practices that affect hiring, training, pay and promotion for women. The speakers will be discussing topics ranging from recruitment, mentoring, procedures addressing discrimination and sexual harassment, unconscious bias training and conducting initiatives such as a pay equality audit.

*We welcome female attendees to join the Chamber’s Women in Business Christmas CONNECTORS afterwards, hosted on the same evening at The Middle House (only 5 mins walk distance). For further details and registration, please click here.
