Following the second working group meeting of the Advanced Engineering, Manufacturing & Lifesciences Committee (AEM&L) on 9 January 2026, we are pleased to share the key outcomes and next steps.
To ensure the Committee continues to serve as the leading voice for the UK’s vibrant industrial community in Shanghai, we are progressing with a significant strategic evolution in our structure. This change is designed to better reflect the diversity of our membership and to provide more targeted and valuable engagement for every sector we represent.
A New Structure for a Dynamic Future
In response to the rapid specialisation within our industries, the Committee will now be organised into three distinct, focused sub-committees:
Focusing on medical devices, pharmaceutical manufacturing, diagnostics, health‑tech innovation, healthcare services, etc.
Covering automotive technology, advanced logistics, global supply chain dynamics, etc.
Encompassing industrial automation, robotics, new materials, aerospace, cutting‑edge industrial processes, etc.
Get Involved!
Should you have any questions or wish to express interest in joining the Committee, please do not hesitate to contact us at yiwen.ling@britishchambershanghai.cn.
Next Meeting
Our next committee meeting will include a strategic discussion on industry opportunities for the coming year, with a particular focus on developments in the UK and within key sectors.
This strategic update represents more than a structural change; it is a firm commitment to ensuring the AEM&L Committee delivers unparalleled value as the premier platform for UK industrial expertise in China. We look forward to embarking on this exciting new chapter with you.
