The 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE) closed curtains on 10 November 2023. This year saw an impressive gathering of 3,486 companies from 128 countries and regions, among them were nearly 100 exhibitors from the UK.
Another highlight of the 6th CIIE was that over 500 small and medium-sized enterprises attended the expo for the first time, and over 400 new products, technologies and services made their debuts.
On 8 November, BritCham Shanghai had the privilege to explore a number of our members’ exhibit stands, learn about their recent achievements, feelings and opinions about CIIE this year.
“We’re delighted to see the resurgence of international travellers in Shanghai, along with the amplified presence of international companies at CIIE this year. This shows their growing investment and dedication to the Chinese market.
BritCham Shanghai plays a very important role in connecting businesses across diverse industry sectors and fostering dialogues between businesses and government.
We will soon launch a pilot programme to support Chinese enterprises in exporting to the UK. There’s a significant opportunity to assist Chinese companies as they venture into global markets.
By nurturing growth in both imports and exports, we aim to create a mutual exchange of benefits. This collective effort is key to strengthening the ties between the UK-China trade relations.”
—— Stuart Dunn, Executive Director of BritCham Shanghai
The visit was in collaboration with the “Shanghai Together through Our Eyes” delegation, organised by the Shanghai Municipal Committee Communications Department.
A roundtable session was hosted among the members of the delegation in the afternoon to foster meaningful conversations around CIIE and networking opportunities for expats who have been living and working in Shanghai for many years.
