by Kirsten Johnston,
Chair of BritCham Shanghai
Dear Members and Friends,
As we embark on the journey of an auspicious Year of the Dragon, I am honoured to convey my heartfelt greetings and share a few reflections upon being elected as the new Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai.
The opportunity to lead a Chamber of such significance and longevity in China is both a privilege and a responsibility that I embrace with gratitude. I thank the Executive Committee, staff and my fellow members for their trust and faith in my leadership. I’m committed to serving our business community with dedication and ensuring the Chamber continues to thrive in the face of the economic headwinds in China.
Fortunately, on 10 February, we will welcome the Dragon, who according to Chinese folklore is a majestic and lucky creature symbolising bravery, creativity, and innovation. As per our own vision for 2024, the Year of Dragon is expected to be one full of potential and opportunities for personal growth, professional success, and positive social impact.
So, in the spirit of unity and mutual support, let us deepen our connections as a vibrant and inclusive business community in Shanghai and beyond. Your involvement makes us stronger and fosters growth and confidence in all that we do (with some extra help from the lucky Dragon)!
Lastly, to you all, I extend my warmest wishes for the Chinese New Year festivities and may you have a year of good health and prosperity in the joyous Year of the Dragon!
Warm regards,
Kirsten Johnston | 莊沛榕
