Shanghai, 18 July 2025, British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai, represented by Chair Kirsten Johnston, Vice Chairs Ted Wan and Edward Weeks, Policy Advisor Christopher Dunn, Consultant Director Alex Roberts, Executive Committee member Stephanie Chen, and Deputy Executive Director Janet Jiang, met with the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce (SCOFCOM) and Invest Shanghai.
Vice Chairman of SCOFCOM, Mr. He Dongbin warmly welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of bilateral trade and investment between Shanghai and the UK.. He noted that SCOFCOM would maintain close communication with BritCham Shanghai, remain attentive to the needs of British business, and continue providing targeted services.
Kirsten Johnston expressed her sincere thanks for SCOFCOM’s longstanding support and engagement. She provided a comprehensive overview of the Chamber’s key initiatives, highlighted key achievements from the past year, and outlined upcoming major events within the year. Representatives from the delegation, each from different sectors, also shared industry-specific developments in discussion with Mr. He.
Mr. He responded positively to the Chamber’s proposals on enhancing connection in fields such as urban renewal, decarbonisation, medical innovation and financial services, as well as on strengthening B2G communication and engagement through the Chamber’s newly launched programme, Policy Digest.
Both sides underlined the importance of maintaining open and regular communication on supporting British businesses, responding to evolving market dynamics, and fostering deeper commercial links between the UK and Shanghai.
