This session is part of BritCham Shanghai’s Employability Week event series and focuses on mapping out a plan for professional training and qualification for the workplace.

The workplace environment has changed dramatically in most business sectors. What are the opportunities and barriers for students entering the world of work? And, do you know how employers nowadays retain talent? We will introduce the overall vocational education trends in the world and how China’s government prioritises vocational (workplace) education reform in the country. Having a mindset of career planning can empower your employability along the professional pathway.

Given that backdrop, we will dive into some good practices and skill sets often required by employers. We will also discuss how you as a graduate or young professional can be proactive in professional qualification at the workplace by understanding industry trends.

In the end, we will explore some methods of being a career planner by mapping out a plan of upfront skill training and qualification in your interested sphere.

Jun Wang

After studying Banking and Finance in TAFE New South Wales Shanghai, Jun worked at the China headquarter office of TAFE NSW in Shanghai. She went to Malaysia in 2009 to work for China Long Yuan Group Malaysia as the Assistant Director of Sales and Marketing. She focused on developing hotel and commercial projects in South East Asia. Jun returned to Shanghai in 2016 and established her own coffee shop brand Caffe More and was active in supporting the Qingpu District’s SME community and other NGOs in the community.

Jun joined the Chamber in 2018 and now supports and manages a range of Committees and related activities including Advanced Engineering & Manufacturing, Education, ESG, Human Resources, Legal & Compliance.

For paid participants, due to the service charges of Glueup and online payment platforms, we can only partially refund up to 90% of your ticket price and payment will be processed within 14 days after the event via your original payment method. However, it is non-refundable for cancellation request made beyond the above-mentioned timeframe.
