• Get different functions to work together
• Gain buy-in for essential changes

The more we are able to influence these stakeholders, the more value we can create for our organisations.

But a challenging thing about influence is that it’s contextual. In other words, our influence is always changing.

Whatever influence you have at work, it can change in an instant. For example:

• Our relationships with others change
• Influential individuals we leverage to get support may leave
• Other people get promoted and we no longer have authority to influence them
